Sussex police have located Constance Marten and Mark Gordon, a couple who disappeared with their newborn baby, in Stanmer Villas in Brighton. However, the search for the infant continues as they have not received any medical attention since birth in early January. The Metropolitan police have launched an urgent search operation to locate the missing baby.
Marten and Gordon have been traveling around the UK by taxi since their car was found burning on the M61 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, on January 5th. Despite efforts to trace the couple, they managed to evade the authorities by moving frequently and keeping their faces covered by CCTV.
Who is Constance Marten in search of the missing baby?
Marten, who is from a wealthy aristocratic family with connections to the royal family, met Gordon in 2016. Gordon had served 20 years in a US jail for rape and battery for an attack on a woman when he was 14 and was deported to Britain from the US in 2010. Since 2016, the couple has led an isolated life, cut off from family and friends, and have been living in a series of Airbnbs around the country on short lets.
Taxi drivers used by the couple in the first few days after they went missing said they had heard noises coming from a baby. The couple traveled from Bolton to Liverpool, Harwich in Essex, East London, and then to Newhaven in Sussex, where they were seen near the ferry port on January 8th.
In late January, police offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the couple’s whereabouts. Officers expressed extreme concern for the health and well-being of the newborn baby, as they may have been exposed to sub-zero temperatures for almost a month.
